Product Information

PYROSTAR is Fujifilm Wako’s range of endotoxin testing instruments and reagents, based on the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay.

The LAL assay operates using lysate isolated from the blood of the Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus). When exposed to bacterial endotoxins, generally arising from lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in the bacterial cell wall, these lysates coagulate and in turn cause the crab’s blood to clot. The Pyrostar LAL assay harnesses this process to provide the most sensitive endotoxin detection method.

Due to this high sensitivity, any reagents used in endotoxin testing must be sterilised to the point that they are free of endotoxins or any other substances that could affect the reaction. To this end we provide endotoxin free LAL reagent water perfect for use with PYROSTAR tests.

This endotoxin free LAL Reagent Water (LRW) is of exceptionally high quality, derived from water designated as safe for injection it is also steam sterilised, both to USP standards. The result is water with an endotoxin concentration of less than 0.001EU/mL allowing you to carry out your endotoxin testing with utmost confidence and results free from interference.
