Blood Collection Vacuum Tubes
Streck BCT® tubes are direct-draw vacuum blood collection tubes that contain a preservative reagent.
BCT tubes are now available in three formats for stabilisation of white blood cells, cell-free DNA, plus cell-free
RNA and extracellular vesicles.
All BCT tubes are 95kPa certified to IATA standard making them suitable for both road and air transport.
Applications
Cyto-Chex® BCT
Cyto-Chex® BCT is a vacuum tube for the collection, transport
and retention of whole blood samples for immunophenotyping by flow cytometry.
Cell-Free DNA BCT®
Cell-Free DNA BCT is a blood collection tube containing a preservative for stabilising nucleated blood cells. This unique stabilisation prevents the release of genomic DNA, allowing isolation of high-quality cell-free DNA which can be further used for a wide range of downstream applications in clinical research studies, drug discovery and diagnostic assay development (e.g. non-invasive prenatal testing, NIPT; liquid biopsies). It has also been demonstrated to minimise the degradation of CTCs.
RNA Complete BCT®
Recover draw time concentrations of cell-free RNA from stored plasma up to 7 days after blood collection. Once isolated, RNA is suitable for downstream applications such as qualitative and quantitative real-time PCR, digital PCR methods such as Droplet Digital™ PCR, and next-generation sequencing. These blood collection tubes can also be used to recover draw time concentrations of extracellular vesicles, such as exosomes, from stored plasma up to 7 days after blood collection. Isolated EVs are suitable for downstream applications such as Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) or indirect analysis of EV-associated cargo.
Benefits
Cyto-Chex® BCT
Cell morphology and cellular antigen expression are maintained for up to 7 days
Stabilises white blood cell panel antigens including those of the HIV panel of CD markers
Reliable and accurate CD4 counts assured for up to 7 days
Subsets of leucocytes can be distinguished by flow cytometry
Facilitates sample batching to reduce daily flow cytometry start-up costs
The Proof of Stability
Light scatter profiles from a blood sample drawn onto a K2EDTA tube analysed at six hours (left) compared to data from a blood sample from the same patient drawn into a Cyto-Chex® BCT tube analysed at seven days (right).
Cell-Free DNA BCT®
Reduces the need for immediate plasma preparation and CTC processing
Cell-Free DNA is stable for up to 14 days at room temperature
Circulating tumour cells are stable for up to 7 days at room temperature
Convenient sample collection, transport and storage
Enhanced stability and recovery of cell-free plasma DNA minimises variability associated with cell-free DNA sample preparation.
RNA Complete BCT®
Maintains the draw time concentration of cell-free RNA and extracellular vesicles, such as exosomes, for up to 7 days when stored at room temperature
By limiting the degradation of white and red blood cells, the specialised chemistry provides sample integrity during storage, shipping, and handling of blood samples.
