Alpha Laboratories is excited to be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, marking half a century of commitment to supporting clinicians, scientists, and patients across the globe.
Founded in 1975, Alpha Laboratories has become a trusted supplier of laboratory consumables, liquid handling supplies, diagnostic solutions, and lab equipment.
David Giles was a founding member and Chairman, pushing the company forward with tenacity, passion and a drive for scientific innovation. That passion and drive has continued, with Alpha building a reputation for providing high-quality products that support critical research and healthcare applications.
Five decades on and the company remains true to its original vision and ethos: to help science improve people’s lives. On the day of our 50th Anniversary (12th June), the Alpha team came together in style, with a groovy 70s themed party! From colourful costumes to classic tunes, we had a fantastic time celebrating our journey - and the amazing people behind it.

"The key to Alpha's success in the laboratory arena has been one of focus. Unlike the broad-based catalogue houses, Alpha has always strived to be experts for the products it markets. The has allowed Alpha to build value for customers by advising on products and applications and thus supplying products to customers which meet or exceed the their expectations. All backed up of course with rapid supply and excellent customer service and support. Product and supply excellence has always been built up through long term investment in relationships with suppliers. Key to this has been regular visits, training and reviews with manufacturers over decades to build expertise and efficient supply chains. A core principle at Alpha has always been on building relationships with both customers and suppliers. A hackneyed expression is 'my word my bond' and Alpha has always cherished this principle. My experience at Alpha was that the agreements David Giles made with a handshake were the strongest of all our agreements as they were built on trust, respect and a shared vision.
Working at Alpha was to be part of a family and like all families at times there were disagreements as well as a shared purpose to build better. At its core was a deep- rooted care and responsibility for its staff and the customers and suppliers they served"
