PYROSTAR is Fujifilm Wako’s range of endotoxin testing instruments and reagents, based on the Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay.
The LAL assay operates using lysate isolated from the blood of the Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus). When exposed to bacterial endotoxins, generally arising from lipopolysaccharides (LPS) in the bacterial cell wall, these lysates coagulate and in turn cause the crab’s blood to clot. The Pyrostar LAL assay harnesses this process to provide the most sensitive endotoxin detection method.
Due to this high sensitivity, any reagents and equipment used in endotoxin testing must be sterilised to the point that they are free of endotoxins or any other substances that could affect the reaction. To this end we provide a range of endotoxin free accessories and equipment, providing all you need to perform your endotoxin testing with complete confidence.
These PYROSTAR endotoxin free aluminium test tube lids are designed for use with Wako endotoxin free test tubes. They are suitable for use with all 3 PYROSTAR analysis methods; the Gel Clot Assay (GCA), Kinetic Turbidimetric Assay and Kinetic Colorimetric Assay (KCA). In order to remove endotoxins and any other pyrogenic substances, the lids are heated to 250°C, depyrogenating them.
