Monothiolglycerol 50mmol/L produced by FUJIFILM Wako Chemical Corporation

StemSure® products are quality assured as confirmed by culturing mouse ES D3 strain cells and performing a colony forming test and alkaline phosphatase staining in addition to the quality specifications for liquid media for general uses.

Monothioglycerol (MTG) can be used as an alternative for 2-mercaptoethanol (2ME) since it exhibits comparable performance to 2ME when it is added to a medium in the culture of mouse ES D3 strain cells. Although 2ME is an essential factor for the culture of ES cells, it was designated a poison by the legal revision in 2008 and media containing 2ME and their waste solutions are all handled as poisons because there is no exclusion rule by concentration. On the other hand, MTG has not been designated a poison and media and waste solutions containing MTG can be handled as general substances.
