The Thermo Q dry block heater for 0.5ml tubes features innovative hardware including a pressure hot-lid design to avoid evaporation when running. The hot-lid temperature tracks and remains at least 10C higher than the block temperature, ensuring no evaporation. When the block temperature is 15C or less, the hot-lid will automatically switch off.
Heating and cooling is rapid - less than 8 minutes to heat from ambient to 100C or to cool from 100C to 4C. The internal over temperature protective device automatically stops heating, and switches the hot-lid off, if the block exceeds a temperature of 120C. Set up is very fast using only 2 keys, and it takes just 1 minute to learn how to use the instrument. The unit has 24V DC input power making it suitable for use in a vehicle for transporting samples where temperature needs to be maintained. Can be operated by computer via USB port, enabling multi-segment program setting, software control and more powerful functionality.
PC software controls instrument running. One PC can control several units. Multi-point temperature and time-range settings can be programmed with ease, making the instrument extremely versatile and suitable for a vast range of applications including LAMP, PCA, NASBA, RPA, sample preservation, enzyme reactions, nucleic acid and protein denaturing and electrophoresis preliminary degeneration. The software can inspect and monitor during a run and can print the entire report when the run finishes. The running diary is recorded in real time. Should the instrument become disconnected from the PC during running, the ThermoQ continues the run uninterrupted. The instrument will auto save the last programme, which can be repeated when next used, making it ideal for laboratories running standard protocols time after time.
A protective cover prevents direct contact with the hot metal block making it very safe to use.
The state-of-the-art Thermoelectric module has a long life of at least 50,000 operating hours.
