Ethachinmate produced by Nippon Gene is a specially prepared neutral polyacrylamide polymer solution used for recovering extremely small quantities of nucleic acids using ethanol. Ethachinmate replaces tRNA used in ethanol precipitation to concentrate nucleic acids.

When a solution containing nucleic acids is diluted, a co-precipitant is often used for the recovery of the nucleic acids. Ethachinmate is a very efficient carrier for precipitation of a very small quantity of nucleic acids with ethanol. Using Ethachinmate 20ng/ml of DNA (>100bps) or RNA (>120bps) can be recovered without a low temperature incubation step.

Ethachinmate is first added to the sample and mixed. On addition of ethanol the ethachinmate forms a visible pellet helping to prevent loss of small amounts of nucleic acid. The ethachinmate precipitates can be easily dissolved in buffer for subsequent processing and ethachinmate does not affect the activity of DNA polymerase, reverse transcriptase, restriction enzymes, ligase and transformation of E. coli.
