Product Information
Phospholipids are class of lipids and a major component of all biological membranes, along with glycoprotein, cholesterol, and proteins. Phospholipids perform vital functions within the body such as emulsification and absorption of fats or coagulation of blood.
LabAssay™ Phospholipid kit offered by Wako is based on an enzymatic method using N-ethyl-N-(2-hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)-3,5-dimethoxyaniline sodium salt (DAOS). Phospholipids are hydrolysed by Phospholipase D to release hydrogen peroxide. The formed hydrogen peroxide promotes oxidative condensation of DAOS with 4-aminoantipyrine. The quantitative oxidative condensation reaction is catalysed by peroxidase (POD), forming a blue pigment. By measuring the absorbance of a blue colour generated determine the concentration of phospholipid in the sample.
