The Drummond Pipet-Aid® XL is a pipetting controller designed for automated liquid aspiration and dispensing using 1-100ml glass or plastic serological pipettes.

The Pipet-Aid® XL has a special ergonomic design to make it easier to operate in awkward pipetting positions, such as under the sash of a safety cabinet or fume hood. The longer, lightweight handle allows the user to adopt a lower arm position when pipetting. The adjustable sliding hand rest provides maximum comfort and stability; minimising head, neck and upper arm fatigue while reducing the risk of repetitive strain injuries (RSI).

The Pipet-Aid® XL has a quiet and efficient pump and can be charged while in use to eliminate downtime. The unit has 3 speeds for aspiration and dispensing and is powered by a 3.6V NiMH rechargeable battery. The Pipet-Aid® XL incorporates a self-locking, dual layer filter comprising a hydrophobic 0.8μm membrane and a hydrophilic 0.8μm membrane, which provide a barrier to particles as small as 0.1μm. These unique filters serve to both protect the Pipet-Aid® XL and guard against cross-contamination. When liquid is drawn into the filter by over aspiration, the hydrophobic layer prevents fluid from entering the handle whilst the wet hydrophilic layer restricts airflow, effectively ‘locking’ the pipette and preventing further use until the filter is replaced. Although with conventional, single layer, hydrophobic filters, the pipette controller is protected from over-pipetting (as aspirated liquid will not pass through the filter), subsequent use can blow out contaminants from the filter when dispensing.

The Drummond Pipet-Aid® XL comes with a one year warranty. It is supplied with a UK charger, spare filters, holster bracket and a detachable stand for resting the Pipet-Aid® when it is not in use.
