The Drummond Pipet-Aid® Hoodmate is a UV-resistant pipetting controller designed for automated liquid aspiration and dispensing using 1-100ml glass or plastic serological pipettes.

For those who prefer a hard-wired installation, particularly in a workstation, the Pipet-Aid® Hoodmate is the perfect solution. It is linked to a wall-mounted pump and housing via a long, coiled cord and when it is not in use, it sits in a convenient holster on the front of the unit. It has an auto-off feature that activates after 3 minutes of inactivity. It also has 9 speed settings for aspiration and dispensing.

The Pipet-Aid® Hoodmate incorporates a self-locking, dual layer filter comprising a hydrophobic 0.8μm membrane and a hydrophilic 0.8μm membrane, which provide a barrier to particles as small as 0.1μm. These unique filters serve to both protect the Pipet-Aid® Hoodmate and guard against cross-contamination. When liquid is drawn into the filter by over aspiration, the hydrophobic layer prevents fluid from entering the handle whilst the wet hydrophilic layer restricts airflow, effectively ‘locking’ the pipette and preventing further use until the filter is replaced. Although with conventional, single layer, hydrophobic filters, the pipette controller is protected from over-pipetting (as aspirated liquid will not pass through the filter), subsequent use can blow out contaminants from the filter when dispensing.
