These robust specimen containers are designed for demanding applications where strict compliance with regulatory requirements around storage, collection and safe transportation of biological samples is essential. Ideal for clinical or veterinary pathology samples, when the Splice Cast sample jars are capped correctly with the corresponding Splice Cast caps, they form a unique, ‘double-seal’ closure which has been tested under a pressure differential of not less then 95kPa to confirm the technology remains leak-proof. This certification makes the Spice Cast specimen containers suitable for sample transport in accordance with UN3373 packaging instructions when combined with appropriate secondary and tertiary packaging for ADR.

As CE IVD specimen containers, these non-sterile screw-cap jars are intended to be used for the in vitro examination of biological specimens derived from the body, for the purpose of providing information concerning a pathological state. Specimens are not to be reintroduced into the body. The sample jars are produced from durable polypropylene and suitable for use with aggressive chemicals such as formaldehyde making them suitable for pathology and histology applications. Compatible with solid or liquid samples, the high-clarity jars with graduated volume guide markings ensure good visibility of contents. Both the specimen jars and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) caps feature an easy to grip ridge to facilitate opening and closing the container, even when wearing gloves.

Splice Cast specimen containers are produced using food contact approved materials and may also be used in quality assurance sampling protocols within manufacturing sites or environmental monitoring and analysis. Specimen jars can be filled up to the nominal volume but if specimens are to be frozen contents should not exceed more than 80% of the nominal volume.
