Apo B immunoturbidimetric assay manufactured by Sentinel Diagnostics

Apolipoprotein B determination is useful in the early detection and assessment of the individual coronary risk, in the diagnosis of apolipoproteinopathy and in the detection of hyperapobetalipoproteinemia (apolipoprotein B elevated and cholesterol-LDL normal).
The determination of Apolipoprotein B is based on the turbidimetric specific reaction, which occurs between the antiapolipoprotein B polyclonal antiserum and its corresponding antigen in optimal pH conditions and in the presence of polyethylenglycole polymer (PEG). The turbidity of the immunocomplex is proportional to the concentration of the analyte in the examined sample. The Sentinel Apo B assay can be used to quantify Apo B in serum or plasma. Measuring range 13-800 mg/dL. The Apo B reagents are supplied ready to use: 2 x 40ml Reagent 1 and 1 x 10ml Reagent 2.
The Sentinel Diagnostics Apo B kit is suitable for manual methods of determination as detailed on the accompanying pack insert and can also be automated - a range of applications for clinical chemistry analysers are available (please enquire). Reagents are stored at 2-8C. Once opened reagent 1 is stable for 120 days and reagent 2 is stable for 60 days provided they are recapped tightly, stored at 2-8C and contamination avoided. On board stability is 30 days with a calibration interval of 30 days. The assay should be calibrated with the Lipids Calibrator supplied separately (1120201) which is standardised against WHO-IFCC for Apo A-1. The recommended QCs for this test are Lipids Controls (1131001).
