Product Information
Malaria P.f/Pan DIAQUICK Test immunochromatographic lateral flow test for malaria screening manufactured by Dialab.
Malaria is an infection caused by plasmodium parasites. Infected mosquitoes can pass the plasmodium parasite via their saliva when feeding on humans or animals and act as a disease vector spreading infection from one host to another. On entering the blood stream the plasmodium sporozoites migrate to the liver where they mature and reproduce. Species of Plasmodium that cause malaria in humans include P. falciparum, P. vivax, P.ovale and P.malariae; of these it is P.falciparum that causes the majority of fatal malaria infections. Rapid identification of the infecting species in order to provide the correct treatment has the greatest impact on prognosis in cases of severe malaria (produced by P. falciparum or mixed infection including falciparum).
The Malaria P.f/Pan DIAQUICK Test is a sandwich type immunochromatographic assay. The test uses whole blood which is applied to a lateral flow cassette with integral control to confirm the test has run correctly. Sample is applied to the cassette and the result read 15-30min later. This point-of-care screening test will indicate positive plasmodium infection by P.falciparum, P.vivax, P.ovale or P.malariae.
A separate indicator line will indicate the presence of the serious P.falciparum infection which requires urgent treatment.
Store at room temperature.
