CRP DIAQUICK Test Cassette immunochromatographic lateral flow assay for the semi-quantitative detection of C-Reactive Protein in whole blood, serum or plasma, manufactured by Dialab.
The acute-phase protein CRP (C-reactive protein) is a classic marker for the diagnosis of an inflammation in the body. The synthesis of CRP happens in the liver and is also triggered by pre-inflammatory cytokines like Interleukine-6. CRP reaches the site of inflammation via plasma and actively contributes to the innate immune response. Systemic inflammations are normally accompanied by a drastic increase of the CRP concentration in blood. Mainly bacterial infections, sterile tissue damage, e.g. after a surgery, traumas or extreme physical stress, tumours mainly in metastatic stage, some auto-immune diseases and malign systemic diseases (Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas) can also be the reason for a CRP increase.
In diagnostics CRP is often used to distinguish between viral and bacterial infections, as the amount of CRP increase is notably higher in bacterial infections. Often CRP is also determined to check for the success of a therapy, e.g. an antibiotic therapy.
The CRP DIAQUICK Test Cassette is a sandwich type immunochromatographic assay for semi-quantitative detection of CRP in whole blood, serum or plasma.
Each lateral flow cassette contains an integral control to confirm the test has run correctly.
Prepared sample is applied to the cassette and the result read 5min later. In the absence of any test indicator line the semi-quantitative result is <10 mg/L CRP. There are 3 indicator lines to quantify the presence of CRP, if the first test indicator line is present the CRP level is ≥ 10 mg/L, if both the first and second indicator lines are present the CRP level is ≥ 40 mg/L. If all three lines are present the CRP level is ≥ 80 mg/L. If the control line does not appear the test is invalid.
