Faecal occult blood DIAQUICK Test Cassette immunochromatographic lateral flow assay for the qualitative detection of haemoglobin in stool sample 50ng/ml Hb, manufactured by Dialab.
The Faecal occult blood (FOB) DIAQUICK Test Cassette is primarily used to screen for lower gastrointestinal pathologies, such as colorectal cancers and adenomas that bleed. Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers. Screening for colorectal cancer is likely to increase detection at an early stage and therefore reduce mortality. Early FOB tests utilised guaiac which requires dietary restriction to minimise false positive and false negative results. The FOB DIAQUICK test is an immunochemical test (FIT) which is designed to detect human haemoglobin in faecal samples by thin layer chromatography which improves specificity.
The FOB DIAQUICK cassette is a qualitative lateral flow immunoassay for the detection of human occult blood in faeces. The membrane is pre-coated with anti-haemoglobin antibody on the test line region of the device.
During testing the specimen reacts with particles coated in anti-haemoglobin antibody.
The mixture migrates along the membrane to react with the anti-haemoglobin antibody on the membrane, where positive a coloured line will appear in the test region.
Each cassette includes a procedural control, if the control line does not appear the test is invalid.
