Fertility and Pregnancy Testing

A range of ELISA and lateral flow assays for gonadotrophic and sex hormones to aid fertility investigations and controls for manual sperm counting.

Fertility

Luteinising Hormone (LH)

Luteinising hormone (LH) levels vary during the menstrual cycle, with low levels at the beginning (Follicular phase) and end (Luteal phase). Ovulation is preceded by a surge in LH levels mid-cycle.
We offer the DiaLab ELISA for serum or plasma LH 0-200mIU/ml and the DIAQUICK LH Cassette for detection of in urine.

Human Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH)

FSH stimulates maturation of ovarian follicles at the beginning of the cycle. Ovulation is preceded by a surge in FSH (mid-cycle phase). Base levels are slightly higher at the beginning of the cycle (follicular phase) than at the end of the cycle (luteal phase).
The Dialab FSH ELISA is for serum or plasma 1-100 mIU/ml,

Progesterone

Progesterone is a C-21 steroid hormone involved in the female menstrual cycle, pregnancy (supports gestation) and embryogenesis of humans and other species.

Measurement of serum progesterone concentrations have been used in evaluating ovarian function. The DiaLab Progesterone ELISA is for serum or plasma 0.05 - 40 ng/ml.

Androstenedione

Androstenedione is the common precursor of male and female sex hormones. Elevated androstenedione levels have been demonstrated in virilising congenital adrenal hyperplasia, polycystic ovary syndrome, and in cases of hirsutism in women. They may also occur in adrenal and ovarian virilising tumours.
The Dialab Androstenedione ELISA is for serum or
plasma 0.1-10 ng/ml.

Sperm-Chex®

Sperm-Chex® is an assayed control to validate quantification of sperm in seminal fluids. It is intended for monitoring sperm counts performed manually using commercially available counting chambers and is the only sperm count control on the market that contains sperm cells.
The two clinically significant levels of control simulate the sperm cell concentration encountered in patient samples:
Level 1: 4.0 – 6.0 sperm x 106/mL
Level 2: 36.0 – 54.0 sperm x 106/mL

Testosterone

Testosterone helps to ensure male fertility, stimulating maturation of the sperm in the tested and influencing quality and quantity of the sperm produced. Daily testosterone production in males is 5-7mg but after 30 years of age this begins to decline.
Dialab offers the Testosterone ELISA for serum or plasma 0.10-16 ng/ml. In addition Free Testosterone ELISA for serum or plasma 0.06-100.0 pg/mlmeasurement of which has been proposed as a means of estimating the physiologically bioactive hormone.

Pregnancy

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)

hCG is a glycoprotein hormone secreted in pregnancy, that is made by the embryo soon after conception. Pregnancy tests measure the levels of the hCG in the blood or urine to indicate the presence or absence of an implanted embryo.
We offer the Beta-hCG ELISA for serum or plasma 1-400 mIU/ml and the DIAQUICK hCG Combo Cassette for use with urine, serum or plasma samples produced by Dialab.

Prolactin

High prolactin levels are observed during pregnancy and the postpartum-lactation period. Other physiological states associated with high prolactin levels include physical and emotional stress, sleep and hypoglycaemia. Hyperprolactinaemia can cause suppression of gonadal function. Prolactin measurement therefor form an essential part of investigations fo infertility.
