Collection & Transport of Urine Samples

Urine Sample Collection

Urine Sample Collection Device

PeeCanter is a simple, discreet and handy pop-up urine collection cup that is perfect for use in diagnostic and home testing kits.

Traditional paper or plastic urine collection cups are bulky to package, easily damaged and can impact on the quantity of usable samples returned. The compact design is supplied flat-packed, which reduces postal costs and storage space for your lab.

The PeeCanter is quick and easy to assemble, simply press with finger and thumb in the marked areas and the 3D cup locks into position.

The wide aperture makes it easier to collect the sample, reducing spillages, and the square design of the cup provides a natural and accurate pouring spout for decanting into the final urine storage or transport container.

Primary Sample Containment

Urine Tubes

The wide range of Universal containers available from Alpha Laboratories includes options that include boric acid preservative which are ideal for urine samples.

The presence of boric acid helps to maintain the microbiological quality of the specimen and prevents overgrowth of organisms during transport to the lab.

Secondary Packaging Solutions

SpeciSafe® Complete System

Pouch and Absorbent

Secondary Packaging

The all-in-one SpeciSafe® pack is a great secondary packaging option that combines an ultra absorbent lining within a hard shell casing. There are two versions available for Universal Containers, to house a single vial or 3 vials.

The triple pack includes built in tube separation. This avoids the need to individually wrap each sample container providing a quick and easy solution.

Secondary Packaging

To ensure compliance when not using SpeciSafe, urine sample containers should be individually wrapped in absorbent  and then placed in a secondary pouch.

If the primary container is not 95kPa compliant, then the pouch must be pressure tested to this level and there are different gauges of pouch specific for Road Transport and Air Transport.

Using this format the outer packaging must be a rigid box.

Mailing Urine Tubes

When using SpeciSafe® for road transport it can just be placed in a suitably labelled envelope for an economical solution.

However, for air transport a rigid outer container is necessary.

Rigid Outer Boxes

Suitable for Road or Air transport with compliant primary and/or secondary containment.

Outer boxes are available in a range of sizes to accommodate multiple sample formats.
