Mycalolide B produced by FUJIFILM Wako Chemical Corporation
Recent studies have pinpointed Mycalolide B, a marine toxin, as an inhibitor
of actin polymerization, Whilst CytochalasinD depolymerises F actin at a slow rate by capping the terminal
binding region of F-actin, Mycalolide B initiates polymerization by actually cleaving F-actin with specificity, binding with it at 1:1 (m/m) ratio and thus restoring it to G-actin.
Mycalolide B has been further attributed with a decrease in Mg2+-ATPase
activity when examining its effects on actomyosin, or various chicken and
rabbit muscular activity.
