Hokkaido University alginate Lyase for Kelp degradation (HULK) Alginate lyase is an enzyme that efficiently breaks down alginic acid.It was originally derived from Strain UMI-01 of Flavobacterium sp., a gram-negative genus of rod-shaped bacteria, containing both motile and non-motile species. This HULK Alginate lyase is produced and purified in Escherichia coli through genetic cloning.

Activity: ≧5,000 units/mg

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that increases Abs235 nm of 0.1 per 1 minute using 0.1% Sodium Alginate as a substrate solution at 30℃
