Doxycycline Hydrochloride is the synthetic, tetracycline derived hydrochloride salt form of the broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic Doxycycline.

Doxycycline hydrochloride possesses antimicrobial activities by inhibiting microbial protein synthesis through its ability to prevent aminoacyl-tRNA binding to the mRNA-Ribosome complex. In addition to this it has also shown some ability to inhibit collagenase.
