Galectins are a family of proteins which typically bind β-galactose-containing glycoconjugates and conserve the primary structural homology in their carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs). The galectin family is classified into three groups according to their structure: prototypical-type, chimeric-type and tandem-repeat-type. Galectin 9 is of the tandem-repeat-type and consisting of two carbohydrate recognition domains joined by a linker peptide. It is inolved in eosinophil migration, dendritic cell maturation, apoptosis, cell adhesion and cancer metastasis. This product is a stable form of galectin-9 that has an improved stability due to a shortened linker sequence.
