Y-27632 (GMP – Compliant) is a selective and potent inhibitor of ROCK (Rho-associated coiled-coil forming kinase/Rho binding kinase). Y-27632 has a variety of activities including vascular smooth muscle contraction through the ROCK signalling. This product has been reported to suppress death of human ES/iPS cells at the time of cell dispersion and improves viability of the cells after cryopreservation.

ROCK activity is involved in a variety of cellular processes including apoptosis, migration, proliferation, and differentiation. Inhibition of ROCK promotes stem cell survival, Y-27632 is the most effective and selective ROCK inhibitor. Y-27632 improves cell survival by blocking cell contraction and apoptosis, which massively improves cell survival.
