MAP (Miogen Activated Protein) kinase (MAPK) is a kind of serine /threonine kinase that is activated by stimuli including extracellular stress, especially cell proliferation and differentiation. It is present in any eukaryote and plays a key role in various signal transduction pathways. There are several cascades in the pathway, as an inhbitor of MEK-1 and MEK-2 U0126 may be useful for signal transduction studies. U0126 has also been reported to stabley maintain the differentiation potential of human ES and iPS cells when used together with GF 109203X.
