Tau ELISA kit produced by FUJIFILM Wako Chemical Corporation
Tau is a microtubule-associated protein. It is mainly expressed in neurons of the central nervous system and regulates the stability of microtubules. In the brain of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, phosphorylated Tau aggregates and forms neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs). There is evidence suggesting that the extent of NFTs correlates with the severity of dementia. Therefore, Tau has been studied extensively to better understand the causes of Alzheimer’s disease and to develop novel therapeutics.
Studies suggest that the concentration of Tau and phosphorylated Tau in the cerebrospinal fluid is elevated in patients with Alzheimer’s disease compared with non-dementia patients. This product is an ELISA kit that readily facilitates measurement of Tau. The kit recognizes total Tau regardless of the state of phosphorylation.
