Product Information

Oxytocin ELISA Kit is an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay designed for the quantitative detection and measurement of Oxytocin in various biological samples. Oxytocin is a peptide hormone comprised of nine amino acids. Often known as the “Happy/Love Hormone”, Oxytocin plays a major role in the development of maternal behaviour, and is known to have stress-relieving, anti-anxiety and fear-alleviating effects. Recently, research in the effects of Oxytocin and Oxytocin Receptors has sparked in the field of neuroscience and neuropsychology in understanding the pathophysiology of autism and in treating anxiety and depression.
Conventional assays of oxytocin used to include the need for a complex pre-treatment using a C18 column. The Oxytocin ELISA Kit overcomes issues faced in conventional oxytocin assays with pretreatment. Sample pre-treatment can be accomplished in 30 minutes, and requires only mixing, stirring, and centrifuging of reagents. Pre-treatment can be performed with 50µl of sample, but for optimum results we recommend using 200µl. Up to 40 samples in duplicate can be run on one kit. The sample types include:
•Human: Saliva, Urine, Plasma, Serum
•Mouse/Rat: Serum or Plasma
