The DIAQUICK H.pylori Stool Cassette is an immunochromatographic screening assay for the qualitative detection of Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) antigen in human faecal samples. Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is a helical shaped gram-negative, microaerophilic bacterium that infects various areas of the stomach and duodenum. It is a major etiological agent for peptic ulcers, gastritis, duodenitis and classified as class I carcinogen by World Health Organization (WHO) for gastric cancer and MALT lymphoma. The bacterium is found all over the world and can easily exist in a
person without showing any symptoms.
The test makes use of specific monoclonal antibodies against H.pylori antigen. One of the antibodies has been adsorbed onto the membrane as a line. The second antibody has been conjugated with colloidal gold particles to provide a reddish colour label. If H.pylori antigen is present in the stool sample, it forms a complex with the colour labelled antibody. When the liquid passes the membrane, this complex will be captured by the antibody fixed onto the membrane. A red line appears. Therefore, a red line in the T-region indicates a positive test result.
In addition, the test contains an internal procedural control represented by a control line that appears in the C-region of the assay. In contrast to the test result line in the T-region, the control line is formed independent of the presence of H.pylori antigen. The formation of the control line shows that the test procedure has been correct and membrane wicking has occurred. The control line must show in every valid assay.
Each pack contains 20 pre-filled sample collection tubes and 20 individually wrapped lateral flow cassettes. Store at 2-30C. Once the sample has been prepared with the buffer tube, 3 drops of extract are added to the test cassette and the result can be read after 15 min.
Analytical sensitivity is 1x 104Colony Forming Units (CFU) / ml.
