Product Information

The HM-JACKarc is a dedicated, bench-top, faecal immunochemical testing analyser for the quantification of haemoglobin in faeces. This dedicated analyser is used in both symptomatic and screening settings, as it is simple to use, easy to maintain, and is capable of high-throughput sample processing.

Background:
Blood in faeces could be a symptom of a range of gastroenterological complaints: colorectal cancer (CRC), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and diverticular disease, for example. The use of a marker such as blood in the stool has been used for CRC screening programmes for over 10-years, originally with a guaiac based, qualitative technology, referred to as faecal occult blood (gFOB). The faecal immunochemical test is now used in symptomatic referral and screening programmes, to help triage patient care appropriately, identify bowel cancer earlier, and improve laboratory workflow.

The Analyser:
The HM-JACKarc used integrated spherical turbidimetry and a highly sensitive latex agglutination reagent coated in polyclonal antibodies, to accurately measure the volume of haemoglobin in stool. Sample collection devices, and reagents can be loaded directly into the analyser for processing. The analyser uses a sample probe to pierce the collection device, aspirate pre-diluted sample, and introduce it to the reaction cells and reagents. The first result is available in under 6 minutes, with subsequent results every 18 seconds. It can process up to 200 samples per hour.
The HM-JACKarc can be programmed to start-up on set days at specific times to ensure it’s ready when the samples arrive. There are many user-definable parameters, such as cut-off value, which can be customised to suit your programme. There is password protection to avoid accidental changes, and there are different levels of user access authority.
The analyser is very easy to use, with minimal programme menu depth, a large touchscreen (glove-compatible), and straightforward maintenance programmes, allowing most laboratory staff to operate the analyser with minimal training. Due to the large waste bottles, the analyser does not require mains plumbing, though waste lines can be diverted to a sink for added convenience.
The HM-JACKarc can be connected to a range of middleware systems, and laboratory information programmes for direct result reporting and easy patient management.
