BCT tubes are now available in three formats for stabilisation of white blood cells, DNA or RNA.
Cyto-Chex® BCT – preserves the integrity of white blood cells at room temperature for immunophenotyping by flow cytometry.
Cell-Free DNA BCT – contains a preservative for stabilising nucleated blood cells.
Cell-Free RNA BCT – contains a patented preservative which stabilises cell-free RNA in plasma and prevents the release of non-target background RNA.

Cell-Free DNA BCT
Cell-Free DNA BCT is a blood collection tube containing a preservative for stabilising nucleated blood cells. This unique stabilisation prevents the release of genomic DNA, allowing isolation of high-quality cell-free DNA which can be further used for a wide range of downstream applications in clinical research studies, drug discovery and diagnostic assay development (e.g. non-invasive prenatal testing, NIPT; liquid biopsies). It has also been demonstrated to minimise the degradation of CTCs.
Cell-Free RNA BCT
Cell-Free RNA BCT is a blood collection tube with a patented preservative which stabilises cell-free RNA in plasma and maintains the integrity of the plasma by preventing the release of cellular RNA from blood cells during sample handling, storage and transport. This unique stabilisation allows for the recovery of high quality cell-free RNA suitable for a wide range of downstream applications commonly used in clinical research studies, drug discovery and diagnostic assay development.
- Cell morphology and cellular antigen expression are maintained for up to 7 days

The Proof of Stability
Light scatter profiles from a blood sample drawn onto a K2EDTA tube analysed at six hours compared to data from a blood sample from the same patient drawn into a Cyto-Chex®BCT tube analysed at seven days.

Cell-Free DNA BCT:
Cell-Free DNA BCT reduces the need for immediate plasma preparation and CTC processing due to its unique stabilisation properties. Cell-Free DNA is stable for up to 14 days, while circulating tumour cells are stable for up to 7 days, at room temperature, allowing convenient sample collection, transport and storage. Enhanced stability and recovery of cell-free plasma DNA minimises variability associated with cell-free DNA sample preparation.
