Ionized calcium binding adapter molecule 1 or Iba1 is a protein specifically expressed in macrophages and microglia and upregulated during cell activation. Also known as allograft inflammatory factor 1 (AIF1), Iba1 has actin bundling activity and participates in membrane ruffling and phagocytosis in activated microglia. Many neurodegenerative diseases have been associated with neuronal inflammation, which is monitored by microglia. This makes Iba1 and microglial marking essential in neurological research. Anti Iba1 won’t cross react with neurons or astrocytes due to its specificity to microglia and macrophages.
Anti Iba1, rabbit monoclonal antibody (6A4) recombinant is a rabbit monoclonal antibody that has the same performance as ‘’Anti Iba1, Rabbit (01919741)’’ with higher lot to lot consistency and reproducibility. This recombinant monoclonal antibody can be applied in lower concentrations and can be uniquely used for immunohistochemical staining of mouse retinas.
