Stem Cell Culture

Stem cell research is a specialised area of tissue culture concerning undifferentiated cells which can be directed to develop into a diversity of distinct cell types.

Broadly speaking stem cells can be divided into two types – embryonic stem cells (ES) and adult stem cells. ES cells are isolated from the inner cell mass of blastocysts and are pluripotent meaning that they can differentiate into all specialised cells. Adult stem cells act as a repair system.

The StemSure reagent range, including Leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and Monothiglyceriol, has been specifically created for use with sensitive stem cell cultures. Each StemSure product has been tested by culturing mouse ES D3 strain cells and performing colony forming assessment and alkaline phosphatase staining in addition to the standard tests for sterility etc. on culture products.

Lectins
The selective binding of recombinant BC2LCN (rBC2LCN) to undifferentiated stem cells enables easy identification of undifferentiated cells for the optimisation of culture conditions.
StemSure® Reagents

The StemSure® reagent range, which includes Leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and Monothiglyceriol, has been specifically created for use with sensitive stem cell cultures including media, serum replacement, additives such as LIF and freezing media.

PrimeSurface® Culture Ware

The PrimeSurface range of plastic culture vessels has low cell adhesion properties due to proprietary low-protein-adsorption technology. This makes them ideal for spheroid cell colony formation.

InertGrade Culture Ware

inertGrade™ plates have a sterile, cell repellent surface, assisting in reduced cell adhesion, protein adsorption and keeps enzyme activation and cellular activation to a minimum.
