What is Laboratree?

Laboratree is Alpha's scheme to plant trees and make a sustainable contribution to the environment. It's free to join and exclusive to Fastrak users, giving you a unique combination of green benefits.

Why plant trees?

  • Trees absorb harmful carbon dioxide from the atmospheRed Squirrelre, reducing the effects of global warming
  • Woods provide habitats for many endangered wildlife species, conserving biodiversity
  • Woods are a place for leisure and relaxation for us and future generations to enjoy

How does it work?

There are just 3 easy steps:

Where do we plant trees?

Our Laboratree campaign began in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength. Thanks to its many supporters, hundreds of trees have already been planted in the Scottish Highlands Alladale Reserve. This has made a valuable contribution to a major reforestation project in association with the Carbon Mangers and the Challenger Trust.

In response to customer feedback, we have now joined forces with the Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, to extend our tree planting activities to multiple locations nationwide.

What does local tree planting mean for you?

We plant trees in the wood location nearest to your laboratory from a specially chosen Woodland Trust selection. This will be indicated on your personalised tree certificate. The trees are native, broadleaved varieties such as Oak, Ash & Birch. You can visit the woods free of charge at any time.

Laboratree Questions & Answers

Q. I am filling up my collector's cards quickly. Is it possible to request more than one collector's card?
A. Yes, that's no problem. Just write a note on your completed card or e-mail laboratree@alphalabs.co.uk stating your Laboratree membership ID.
Q. What is my Laboratree membership ID?
A. This is the number in the top left hand corner of your collector's card and allows us to relate it to you or your laboratory.
Q. Why do you have a collector's card? Surely this is wasting trees.
A. We need the collector's card to link your Fastrak purchases to your Laboratree account. They are printed on recycled paper to avoid wasting trees.
Q. Where do I find the tree tokens in my Fastrak pack?
A. There is one token in each Fastrak pack and you'll find it in the document wallet attached to the side of the box.
Q. Is it OK for several users within one lab to register for Laboratree?
A. Yes, that's fine. Each registrant will be allocated a unique ID and this will be identified on his/her collector's card.
Q. My contact details have changed. How should I notify you?
A. Please e-mail laboratree@alphalabs.co.uk stating your membership ID and the changes you require.
Q. If I visit the wood where my tree is planted, will I be able to see which one has been dedicated to me?
A. No, the Woodland Trust does not mark the trees in order to keep the woods as natural as possible. However, the wood information sheet shows the area within the wood where your dedicated trees can be found.
