Alpha Laboratories has an extensive range of pipette tips for both general and specific applications. As part of an ongoing development programme, we continually improve our range to meet customer demands.
Alpha pipette tips are manufactured in modern production facilities with stringent quality controls at every stage. Where appropriate, certificates are available for tips to show they are sterile, free from DNase, RNase, endotoxins and DNA. This means that you can protect your samples with the assurance of quality and reliability right to the last tip in the box
We have non-filter tips covering the complete volume range from 0.1µl to 10ml. This includes our popular "Everyday" yellow & blue tips which offer superb quality and value for money.

To help you select the pipette tip you require more easily, we have introduced Certification and Coding Symbols. These inform you of special features and testing certificates each tip posses.
A - Autoclavable
E - Sterile versions are endotoxin free
L - Low retention
D - No detectable human DNA
F - Filtered version available
R - No detectable RNase/DNase
Ds - Sterile version tested for human DNA
G - Graduated tip
T - Reduced forces required for tip mounting and ejection
There are 3 types of filter tip in the Alpha range. They are all certified to be free of RNase,Dnase, DNA, pyrogens, ATP and trace metals.
1. ZAP: These economical racked filter tips offer effective protection of pipettes in PCR and other applications. They include an integral porous filter that traps aerosols before they reach and contaminate the pipette. Every batch is tested to ensure that there are no PCR contaminants on the tip surface and is sterilised by irradiation. Not autoclavable Volume range 0.1-1000µl
2. Aeroguard: This comprehensive range has a wider choice of tip formats to fit virtually any pipette including low retention and gel loading versions. They provide unparalleled protection of your samples & instruments from carry-over and cross-contamination. Aeroguard tips are perfect for PCR, radioisotope work and handling viruses and serological samples. Sterilised by electron beam radiation. Tips are autoclavable. Volume range 0.1-5000ul
3. High Recovery Aeroguard: These tips provide ultimate protection of your pipette from both aerosols and fluids. They incorporate a robotically inserted, patented filter made from high molecular weight polyethylene. The pores in this filter are very small (~10µm) and can trap even radionucleotides, preventing them from reaching the pipette barrel. Another benefit is that in the event of over-pipetting, the filter blocks the overdrawn fluid but does not absorb it so the sample can be completely dispensed. Available as sterile & non-sterile. Tips are autoclavable. Volume range: 0.1-1250ul

Fastrak is a pipette tip refill system which has been designed to make refilling your pipette tip racks quick and easy. It can be used to refill Alpha and many other suppliers’ tip racks with a wide range of high quality tips to fit all the major brands of pipettor. The outer box is recloseable and has a small footprint to maximise storage space in crowded labs. The refill tower incorporates a novel transfer top which keeps the tips clean and prevents tip wobble, facilitating racking without touching the tips or wafer. Fastrak refills are lab-certified to be free of Rnase/Dnase, Human DNA and Endotoxins, and all tips are manufactured from pure virgin polymers. From an environmental standpoint, Fastrak also goes significantly beyond any other refill system with a surprisingly low carbon footprint. Fastrak packaging is made from 95% renewable materials and is minimised to reduce the fuel consumed in transportation. Printing inks are of vegetable origin and the tip refill base is produced from corn starch - the industry's first compostable bio-plastic.

As an additional green bonus, any laboratory using Fastrak will be enrolled in our 'Laboratree' campaign to plant indigenous trees in the Scottish Highlands. We'll plant a tree on your behalf for your first Fastrak purchase and a further tree for every 30 packs of Fastrak. You'll get a certificate of planting every month when any new trees are planted for you. Our target is to plant 250 trees by the autumn of 2009, we then plan to plant another 250 by summer 2010.
Where are the trees planted?
We've joined forces with Carbon Managers who work to increase awareness of carbon issues. Planting trees is one of their many activities. One scheme is working to re-wild Alladale. The trees are planted by the Challenger Trust which gives chlidren and young adults valuable outdoor experiences, including tree planting.
