Parafilm M is a semi-transparent, flexible, thermoplastic film with two way stretch. Non-toxic and free from plasticisers, Parafilm M is primarily composed of polyolefins and paraffin waxes offering good resistance against acids, alkalis and some organic solvents but is not recommended for use with acetone, diethyl ether or tetrachloride. This versatile, self-clinging film will stretch 200% and adhere to irregular shapes and surfaces to provide a secure seal on glass or plastic vessels. Parafilm M is moisture resistant and an ideal choice for covering beakers, flasks or test tubes to prevent contamination, evaporation or spillage of samples and reagents.

A versatile addition to the laboratory, these disposable, plastic spatulas/stirring rods have a flattened paddle at one end and are suitable for numerous weighing, mixing, spreading and stirring applications. Manufactured from clear polystyrene, measuring 120mm x 3mm, the slim design of our single use spatulas makes these especially suited to working with small quantities of reagent.
Whether handling solids or liquids, Alpha's range of anti-static weighing dishes are ideal - they will resist diluted acids, alcohols, bases and aqueous solutions and can be easily bent into pouring spouts for no-spill transfer.
Our weigh boats are biologically inert, contaminant free and suitable for numerous applications such as weighing, dispensing or storing. The flat base ensures stability on benches and counters and the smooth surface facilitates weighing of static-affected samples and minimises sample loss during pour-out.
Alpha weigh dishes can also be used as discard trays for broken ampoules, quick freeze or drying trays for sample material or mixing dishes. All weigh dishes and pour boats are manufactured from polystyrene and will withstand temperatures up to 80C.
These disposable laboratory test tubes are ideal for RIA, coagulation, blood grouping, molecular biology, bacteriology, sample or standard dilution protocols. Single piece construction from clear polysytrene or autoclavable polypropylene, our round bottom tubes offer good resistance to common acids, alkalis and solvents. Plug caps available for 12 and 16mm diameter tubes.
Alpha's range of shallow, 96 well clear polystyrene microtitre plates feature alpha numeric indexing with row and column identifiers, raised well rims to prevent cross contamination and orientation cuts at H1 and H12. Available sterile or non sterile in three well options to suit different applications:
Flat wells - ideal when making optical measurements such as colourimetric determinations or microscopy work;
U shaped wells - the round bottom improves washing efficiency and no sharp corners make these ideal for agglutination tests;
V shaped wells - for precise pipetting and optimal sample recovery.
Foot print 128x86mm. Microtitre plate lids are also available, free from markings for optimal visibility, with raised rim for convenient stacking of plates, sterile and non-sterile options.
The Alpha range of deep well plates and sealing mats are designed for high-through put screening applications but are equally suited to sample storage, enzymatic assays, bacteriology and molecular biology techniques. All our deep well plates feature alpha numeric indexing with row and column identifiers and orientation cuts to facilitate sample identification. We offer both polystyrene and polypropylene round aperture plates with a 1.2ml well capacity and pierceable sealing mats. Polypropylene, Square aperture plates are also available with both 1.2ml and 2.2ml well capacity options.
Alpha also has a selection of 384 deep well plates, sturdy polypropylene conforming to the standard SBS footprint. Perfect for automation these plates feature alphanumeric indexing, orientation cuts at A1 and P1 and square well apertures. The shallowest plate, with a well capacity of 120µl, is offered with a flat well base whilst the plates with 200µl and 400µl well capacities feature round bottom wells.
A great alternative to deep-well plates when considering storage solutions or for high-through put screening applications, Alpha’s range of organised, 1.2 ml tubes conform to the standard SBS footprint. These 96-position, alphanumeric indexed racks are available with individual test tubes, 8- or 12-strip tube options. All racks are supplied with a lid and strip caps for tubes/tube strips are also available. Refill tubes are also offered so you can re-use these racks time and time again.
These square cuvettes are suitable for use with most standard spectrophotometers. Manufactured from clear polystyrene, our disposable cuvettes are suitable for applications measuring visible wavelengths, 400-700 nM. The dimensions of these low profile cuvettes are 45mm (h) x 12mm (w) x 12mm (d) and the optical light path is 10mm. Both semi-micro (1.5ml) and macro (4ml) volumes available.
Stackable BioTiteTM containers are ideal for collection and transport of fluids or solids. The dual-threaded, polyethylene caps provide a super-positive seal with the polypropylene jars, tested at up to 500kPa, BioTites are ideal for use in pneumatic transport systems.
Tough and shatter-resistant with easy to read volume graduation the BioTites design also incorporates a reinforcement ring to strengthen the vial side-wall guarding against squeeze related leakage.
BioTites are available sterile, with tamper evident label or non-sterile, without label.
Alpha Laboratories universal containers are aseptically manufactured from clear polystyrene. All have a conical base and are self-standing. Made to the highest standards and demanding specifications for the most critical applications.
Made from optically clear, virgin polystyrene, Alpha's Sample Cups are suitable for use on chemistry and coagulation analysers
These micro test tubes with tethered caps are manufactured from polyethylene and can be used on Cobas Bio® and Cobas Mira® analysers. Disposable cuvetted segments, manufactured from polymethylmethacrylate, are also supplied for the Cobas Mira analysers.
