Self-Locking Filter
Drummond Pipet-Aids incorporate a self-locking, dual layer filter comprising a hydrophobic 0.8μm membrane and a hydrophilic 0.8μm membrane which provide a barrier to particles as small as 0.1μm. These unique filters serve to both protect the Pipet-Aid® and guard against cross-contamination.
When liquid is drawn into the filter by over aspiration, the hydrophobic layer prevents fluid from entering the handle whilst the wet hydrophilic layer restricts airflow, effectively ‘locking’ the pipette and preventing further use until the filter is replaced.
Although with conventional, single layer, hydrophobic filters, the pipette controller is protected from over-pipetting (as aspirated liquid will not pass through the filter), subsequent use can blow out contaminants from the filter when dispensing.
Easy to use. Useful in assay development.
Rating: 4/5. Application Area: Compound addition.
