BUFFERS

Alpha Laboratories offers a select range of convenience buffers to reduce the preparation time required by the research scientist for routine techniques, thus making better use of the available time. Convenience products avoid the simple errors which mean the loss of complete experiments due to the tedious nature of preparing routine solutions.

TE Buffer - Standard buffer for DNA and RNA purification, processing and storage. It is produced to exact standards that mean it will perform as expected every time, providing the researcher with absolute security for their procedures.

TAE Buffer (50x) - Is a concentrated solution of 2M Tris-Acetate and 100nM Sodium EDTA in distilled/deionised water (pH 8.3 at 1x concentration) No weighing, mixing or adjusting of pH is necessary, simply dilute with an appropriate amount of distilled/deionised water.

TBE Sequencing Buffer (5x and 10x) - Is a concentrated buffer solution of Tris-Borate-EDTA in distilled/deionised water. This solution is widely used in the preparation of nucleic electrophoresis gels.

SSC Buffer - Used for blotting nucleic acids and for hybridisation procedures. SSC Buffer (20x) is a concentrated solution of sodium chloride-sodium citrate already in solution in distilled/deionised water. This eliminates the weighing mixing, and adjusting of pH necessary with powdered buffers.

SDS 20% Solution - The detergent sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS, sodium, lauryl, sulphate) has long been recognised as a powerful protein denaturant and solubilising agent which induces conformational changes in proteins at low concentrations. Used in DNA purification procedures and SDS PAGE

Triple Dye Loading Buffer (6 x) - Is a non-denaturing loading buffer for native polycylamide and agarose gel applications. Contains 3 tracking dyes (Bromophenol blue, Xylene cyanol and Orange G)
